Glossary of Key Terms
| Fachschaft | The student council – a group of students who represent and support fellow students in a department. |
| Englisches Seminar I | The department responsible for English Studies, including literature, linguistics, and cultural studies. |
| KLIPS | The official online system where you register for courses, exams, and view your schedule and grades. |
| ILIAS | An online learning platform where lecturers upload materials, readings, assignments, and more. |
| Modulhandbuch (Module Guide) | A guide that explains the structure of your degree, including courses, requirements, and exams. |
| Modul | A unit of study made up of one or more related courses. You complete modules over the course of your degree. |
| Vorlesung (Lecture) | A large course, usually held by a professor, often with many students and no attendance requirement. |
| Seminar | A smaller, interactive course focused on discussion, presentations, and active participation. |
| Tutorium | A practical course, often used for language training, specific skills or general training of a subject for an exam. |
| Prüfungsleistung | Exam or assessment – e.g. term paper, oral exam, written test. Usually required to complete a course. |
